Kiyoshi Murata’s Bio
Kiyoshi Murata is Director of the Centre for Business Information Ethics and Professor of Management Information Systems at the School of Commerce, Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan. He has studied information ethics since 1997 following his career of research on economics, operational research, business administration and management information systems, and established the centre in April 2006, which is the only research institute to study information ethics in East Asia. Kiyoshi has been engaged in various research projects in collaboration with Spanish researchers as a principal investigator including the MEXT Programme for Strategic Research Bases at Private Universities project “Organisational Information Ethics” (S1291006; FY 2012-16), the JSPS Grant-in-aid for Scientific Research (B) “Cross-cultural analysis on alienation caused by ICT-based services and organisational social responsibility” (25285124; FY 2013-15), (C) “Cross-cultural study on market acceptability of cyborg technology” (20K01920; FY 2020-22), and (C) “Cross-cultural study on AI ethics from a perspective of business” (23K01545; FY 2023-25). In September 2019, he served as a co-director of the XXVIII AEDEM International Conference of the European Academy of Management and Business Economics held in Tokyo, Japan. He is an editorial board member of many international journals such as European Journal of Management and Business Economics, Journal of Management and Business Education, Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society and ACM Journal on Responsible Computing, and has published his papers in scholarly journals including European Research on Management and Business Economics, Journal of Business Ethics, Technology Analysis & Strategic Management, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, AI and Society, and Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society. In October 2023, the academic book Ethics and Sustainability in Digital Cultures, he co-edited, was published by Routledge.
